We Talk Yet Act
(Elizabeth Stephens)
Repentence-The Spirit's Cry...
1 John 2:6
"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."
This song is an exhortation to have our actions coincide with our confessions...that Christ be SEEN and GLORIFIED in our lives.
VERSE 1
We talk love …. Yet act indifferent.
We talk scripture….Yet act worldly.
We talk purity… Yet act immoral
We talk “Poor Me” … Yet we buy, buy, buy…
CHORUS
* We are de-sensitized…
We are unaware…
We can talk the talk, but do we walk the walk? (repeat from *)
**Jesus is our Lord,
we must act like Him. (repeat from **)
VERSE 2
We say we’ll talk… and yet we never do.
We say let’s get together…but the time never comes.
We say we love him…yet we do not obey
We talk like we do… but do we show it.
Repeat CHORUS
VERSE 3
We talk faith…Yet act worried.
We talk kindness… Yet act rude.
We talk patience… Yet lose our cool each day.
We talk forgiveness – and yet we’re bitter
Repeat CHORUS
VERSE 4
We talk peace...Yet we fight
We talk "stand firm" - yet we compromise.
We talk love of God... yet do we "know" it
We talk peace and joy, yet we cry cry cry.
Repeat CHORUS
MUSIC TEACHER LESSON:
It is indeed with fear and trembling that I present this song. A SONG OF REPENTANCE - FOR IT IS INDEED "HEAVY" ... and not a joy for a servant of God to share with others.
YET, it's fruit will be righteousness, if responded to, and this truly, is pleasing to GOD...and therefore it's a message I will bravely share.
Always remember friends: GOD, through the Holy Spirit, convicts us to BRING FORTH RIGHTEOUSNESS.
SATAN condemns and brings forth unrighteousness. What a difference. We know it by the fruit being produced.
Here's a set of verses in keeping with this Cry for Repentance:
Matthew 3:8-17
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: [9] And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. [10] And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. [11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: [12] Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
[13] Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. [14] But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? [15] And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. [16] And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: [17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
JESUS LIVED
PLEASING TO THE FATHER.
IF WE LIVE LIKE HIM
WE WILL BE PLEASING TO THE FATHER.
YET
WE CANNOT LIVE FOR CHRIST...AND LIKE CHRIST...APART FROM BEING "REBORN" OF CHRIST...APART FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD in us and upon us, as He was in and upon Christ.
HEAR these verses:
11 “Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the reeds flourish without water?
12 While it is yet green and not cut down,
It withers before any other plant.
13 So are the paths of all who forget God;
And the hope of the hypocrite shall perish,
14 Whose confidence shall be cut off,
And whose trust is a spider’s web.
15 He leans on his house, but it does not stand.
He holds it fast, but it does not endure.
16 He grows green in the sun,
And his branches spread out in his garden.
17 His roots wrap around the rock heap,
And look for a place in the stones.
18 If he is destroyed from his place,
Then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’ Job 8
A hypocrite is simply someone who pretends to be his without the surrender to HIM.
He talks but doesn't walk, for he is unable to do so apart from Christ living the life within Him. The only way Christ CAN live the life through us is through "surrender". Letting Him be OUR Lord. For He is THE Lord.
THIS SONG IS FOR HIS CHILDREN...WHO HAVE CHRIST WITHIN...TO SIMPLY THINK ABOUT THEIR ACTIONS...AND SURRENDER THEMSELVES TO CHRIST...GIVING HIM LORDSHIP AND REIGN IN THEIR LIVES.
You don't need alot of words in this lesson. The song, if studied, gives you a full picture of what the Spirit is saying to all of us.
ME INCLUDED.
It's coming through these refining fires myself, that I am able to bring them to share. I haven't arrived, but I indeed see his purpose is to bring us to PURITY.
To close I'll share this scriptural exhortation:
James 4:8
Draw nigh to God,
and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;
and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
God wants to entrust the heavenly riches to us, and the harvest that is ahead. We must ask ourselves two questions:
"Can He trust me?
and
"Can I trust Him enough to give him Lordship?"
(smile)
Let's ALL surrender, and prepare our hearts...
and make HIS HEART GLAD!
Oh would I love to see HIS RADIANT SMILE as people RESPOND to this SONG'S MESSAGE out of LOVE for HIM... and out of a desire for others to SEE HIM through their lives!
It makes ME SMILE!
